The Instituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), in conjunction with the Universities of Messina, Palermo, and Catania, has opened a fully funded PhD position in Mathematics and Computational Sciences, with topic the study and development of advanced modeling techniques for simulation of volcanic processes. The research will stress the exploitment of Artificial Intelligence approaches for the development of cutting-edge physical models. The candidate will have access to the research resources and activities of the Etna Volcano Observatory.
Applicants should have a master degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or other related fields, obtained by November 30, 2024. Computational skills are useful, experience in volcanology is an advantage.
