La forte esplosione del 25 agosto 2010 alla Bocca Nuova (il più occidentale dei quattro crateri sommitali dell'Etna) è stata seguita da numerosi eventi esplosivi e crolli dalla stessa bocca, che hanno generato brevi emissioni di cenere. Fino al pomeriggio del 29 agosto si sono registrati 7 eventi maggiori, sebbene di intensità molto inferiore a quella dell'evento del 25 agosto.

The strong explosion of 25 August 2010 at the Bocca Nuova (the westernmost of the four summit craters of Etna) has been followed by numerous smaller explosive events and collapse within the vent, which have generated brief emissions of ash. As of the afternoon of 29 August, 7 larger events have been recorded, though of much lesser intensity than the 25 August explosion.

Alle ore 12.54 UTC (14.54 ore locali) del 16 agosto 2010, le più meridionali delle Isole Eolie sono state scosse da un terremoto di magnitudo 4.5 che ha generato piccole frane nelle porzioni meridionale dell'isola di Lipari e settentrionale di Vulcano. L'epicentro è stato localizzato poco ad ovest della parte nord di Vulcano, la profondità dell'ipocentro è stata stimata a 12-14 km. L’evento è stato ampiamente avvertito in tutta la Sicilia orientale, sino a Siracusa.

At 12.54 h UTC (14.54 local time) on 16 August 2010, the southern part of the Aeolian Islands was shaken by a magnitude 4.5 earthquake, which caused rockfalls and landslides on the steep rocky coasts in the south part of Lipari island and in the north part of Vulcano island. The epicenter has been located a little to the west of the northern part of Vulcano, the focal depth was estimated at 12-14 km. The event was widely felt in eastern Sicily, to as far as Siracusa.

Alle ore 15.09 (locali = GMT+2), una forte esplosione è avvenuta dalla bocca occidentale della Bocca Nuova, uno dei quattro crateri sommitali dell'Etna. L'esplosione ha generato un plume di cenere alto circa 1 km che è stato spinto dal vento verso est.
At 15.09 h local time (= GMT+2), a powerful explosion occurred from the western vent of the Bocca Nuova, one of the four summit craters of Mount Etna. The explosion created a plume of dark gray ash that rose about 1 km above the summit and then drifted eastward.
