Research summary
My research interests are in Mathematics, Physical-Mathematical models, Computational Sciences and High Performance Computing. I work at the Etna Observatory of the INGV in Catania (INGV-OE) within the Laboratory of Technologies for Volcanology (TechnoLab). I have developed skills and methodologies for complex fluids modelling and geophysical monitoring of active volcanic areas from space. My focus is on the study and development of physical-mathematical models, via cloud computing, in combination with artificial intelligence, to describe the evolution in space and time of volcanic phenomena and monitor their relative danger, enhancing modeling performances and extending their functionalities. Applied research also includes the design and implementation of models totally based on artificial intelligence techniques for the analysis of satellite images for monitoring volcanic areas. The results obtained were presented at various national and international conferences and published in numerous scientific articles.
