Research summary

From September 2004, I began my research work with the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, Osservatorio Etneo (INGV-OE) in Catania, as part of the Geochemistry Remote Sensing Group. My work focus on the collection, analysing and interpretation of geochemical measurements by infrared remote sensing methods and in the developed and installation of new remote sensing tools in the monitoring of active volcanoes. During my activity, I become one of the leading specialist of the remote sensing study and analysis of volcanic gas emissions and degassing process, especially using open path Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectroscopy. Also I have developed deep experience with volcano monitoring activities within INGV and participated in various project in the framework of international collaboration. I have the responsibly for the Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) monitoring of Mt. Etna, Vulcano and Stromboli.
