At the same time, volcanoes continuously release gases, aerosols and thermal energy that can affect atmospheric composition, cloud formation and climate variability.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Despite decades of satellite observations and ground-based monitoring, recent advances are creating new opportunities to investigate the mechanisms linking these processes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/VT-CLAIM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/vision2-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:484px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Building on these advances, <strong>VT-CLAIM<\/strong><\/strong><strong> combines Earth Observation, field measurements, climate modelling and Artificial Intelligence to identify physically meaningful interactions and potential causal relationships across the climate\u2013volcano\u2013tectonic system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 id=\"WPs\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work Packages<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VT-CLAIM is organised into eight interconnected Work Packages covering data generation, field observations, Artificial Intelligence, physical interpretation, project management and dissemination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>WP1 \u2013 Coordination and Project Management <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>WP2 \u2013 Climatic Indicators <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>WP3 \u2013 Volcanic Activity Indicators <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>WP4 \u2013 Tectonic Activity Indicators <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>WP5 \u2013 Local-Scale Experiments <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>WP6 \u2013 AI Integration of Climate, Tectonic &amp; Volcanic Data <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>WP7 \u2013 AI-Driven Physical Interpretation &amp; Process Understanding <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>WP8 \u2013 Communication, Dissemination &amp; Outreach <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The VT-CLAIM research structure combines Earth Observation, field experiments, Artificial Intelligence and physical interpretation within a single integrated workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Climate, volcanic and tectonic indicators (WP2\u2013WP4), together with high-resolution observations from local-scale experiments (WP5), provide the scientific foundation of the project. These datasets feed the AI framework (WP6), where causal relationships and cross-domain interactions are investigated. Results are then assessed through explainable AI and process-based interpretation (WP7), ensuring scientific robustness and physical consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Project coordination (WP1) and communication, dissemination and outreach activities (WP8) support all research activities throughout the project lifecycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 id=\"ai-framework\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-75ad3cd19e00644827fbb7a170e0e0c3\" style=\"color:#4696eb\">AI Framework<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Data Integration to Causal Discovery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The VT-CLAIM AI Framework combines multi-decadal observations from climate, volcanic and tectonic domains into a unified analytical ecosystem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/VT-CLAIM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ai-framework-1024x683.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:814px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VT-CLAIM combines Earth Observation, climate data, volcanic and tectonic indicators within a unified AI framework designed to identify potential causal relationships across Earth-system domains.
